The Arlington-Alexandria VA metro area, nestled in the heart of Northern Virginia, forms a vital part of the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria DC-VA metropolitan region. The presence of the Pentagon in Arlington and numerous federal agencies across the region anchors a significant portion of the local economy. Additionally, the area has become a tech hub, with companies like Amazon choosing Arlington for its second headquarters, Amazon HQ2, which has brought thousands of jobs and spurred economic growth. Other major employers include Booz Allen Hamilton, the Department of Defense, and various contractors and consulting firms that support the federal government.
Education is a strong pillar of the Arlington-Alexandria VA area, with numerous top-rated schools and prestigious higher education institutions. George Mason University, located in nearby Fairfax, is the largest public university in Virginia and is known for its programs in law, economics, and the sciences.
