The manufacturing sector is robust, supported by the maquiladora industry across the border in Ciudad Juárez. Fort Bliss, one of the largest military installations in the U.S., contributes significantly to the local economy and community. Education holds significant importance in the area, with the University of Texas at El Paso as a major institution. Known for its programs in engineering, business, and nursing, UTEP contributes to the region’s educational landscape and workforce development.

El Paso supports the El Paso Chihuahuas (minor league baseball) and El Paso Locomotive FC (USL Championship soccer).
