The region is also home to a thriving equine industry and several manufacturing companies, including Toyota’s largest vehicle manufacturing plant in Georgetown.
Education in the metro area is centered around the University of Kentucky in Lexington, offering a wide range of academic programs and contributing significantly to local innovation and research. Transylvania University, also in Lexington, is one of the oldest universities in the United States, known for its liberal arts programs.
