The economy of the Myrtle Beach–Conway metro area thrives predominantly on tourism, which fuels much of the local business. The area attracts millions of visitors annually, drawn by its beaches, golf courses, and entertainment options. Healthcare also plays a crucial role, with major facilities like Conway Medical Center and Grand Strand Medical Center providing essential services and employment to locals. Education forms a vital component of the community, with Coastal Carolina University (CCU) serving as a key educational institution. Located just west of Myrtle Beach in Conway, CCU offers a diverse range of programs that attract students from across the United States, including notable strengths in marine science, business, and hospitality management. Horry Georgetown Technical College complements these offerings by providing vocational training and associate degrees that cater to local industry needs, particularly in hospitality and technical services.
