Companies like Caterpillar Inc., Formosa Plastics Corporation, and DeTar Healthcare System operate facilities in the area, producing a variety of goods and providing services that support the local economy. Additionally, the Port of Victoria serves as a key transportation hub for the region, facilitating the movement of goods and materials to and from markets across the country and around the world.
Education is another key facet of the Victoria metro area, with institutions like the University of Houston-Victoria and Victoria College offering a wide range of academic programs and research initiatives.
