Exam Policies
We developed oral certification exams because they test leadership knowledge more effectively than written examinations. Our exam administrators hold doctoral degrees and have 20+ years of leadership experience. We administer oral certification exams via Microsoft Teams video conference. No special software downloads are required. You will receive a calendar invite to your exam via email within three (3) business days of scheduling.
Exam Expectations
Assessment Policy
The RBLP series of leader certification exams assess factual, conceptual, and procedural knowledge of the leader tasks applicable to building and leading resilient teams.
- Factual: Knowing what the key terms and ideas relevant to each leader task mean.
- Conceptual: Knowing why principles, theories, and models relevant to each leader task are important.
- Procedural: Knowing how the relevant skills, techniques, and methods for each leader task are implemented in the workplace to build and lead resilient teams.
Examinees must demonstrate their understanding of factual, conceptual, and procedural knowledge via the following high-order thinking skills during the exam.
- Analyze (select and differentiate) their unique leader/follower experience and attribute that experience to the leader tasks being assessed.
- Evaluate (critique and judge) their unique leader/follower experience to determine what leaders should or should not do relevant to each leader task being assessed.
- Create (design and produce) a plan for building and leading resilient teams in their specific line of work.
Exam results are emailed to examinees on the third business day after the exam.
- Results for Monday exams go out on Thursday
- Results for Tuesday exams go out on Friday
- Results for Wednesday exams go out on Monday
- Results for Thursday exams go out on Tuesday
- Results for Friday exams go out on Wednesday
Pass or Did Not Pass Policy
A status of PASS is achieved by meeting competency expectations for the certification exam attempted.
A status of DID NOT PASS is achieved by not meeting competency expectations for the certification exam attempt.
We use a cut score to distinguish between meeting and not meeting competency expectations.
Examinees who DID NOT PASS may schedule a Second Attempt Reexamination (1 hour) no sooner than 30 days and no later than 90 days from the original exam date to meet competency expectations (raise their score).
If the examinee still DOES NOT PASS after the Second Attempt Reexamination (1 hour), they may schedule another full certification exam no sooner than one year from the original exam date.
Upgrade Policy
Certified leaders (current, not expired) are eligible for a 20% discount on RBLP Coach and RBLP Trainer exams. Request your discount code by texting 213-205-6100 or via email to RBLP Support.
Certified leaders may upgrade one certification level within 90 days of their original certification exam date by scheduling a 90-day Upgrade Exam (1 hour). Examinees upgrading from RBLP to RBLP Coach within 90 days are assessed on the Team Learning competency domain only. Examinees upgrading from RBLP Coach to RBLP Trainer within 90 days are assessed on the Organizational Learning competency domain only. Scores for these domains are combined with previous scores to determine PASS or DID NOT PASS status.
